As Americans, and as San Diegans, we are at a critical juncture in human history. We can continue on a collision course with nature, with Global Warming, and with the rest of the world - increasingly more wars and violence over shrinking natural resources. Or we can begin to elect public officials who do not simply promise to do something about it, but actually give us - as citizens - the means, tools, and organizational capabilities to do it ourselves. Only true participatory democracy will save this planet.

Today, there is a failure of generosity and a failure of compassion at city hall, an unwillingness to share or to take risks. There are also many in city government, particularly among staff, who see the gentrification of San Diego, with its high rent, unaffordable homes and low wages, a natural part of a corporate owned government that favors the rich and powerful.

As citizens, we need to cooperate, share, legislate and dream among good companions and good neighbors; to create harmony between ourselves and our community, between our city and the life force that is our wonderful Earth. A few of us believe we can do this, here, in San Diego. Pioneers in fair, sustainable, democratic neighborhoods.

My campaign is not about me. It is about you. Are you ready to take back government? Prepared to participate with your neighbors in real democracy; making decisions as truly empowered citizens? Are you ready to own the sources of energy as a community resource; guiding toward renewal-ability and sustainability? Participate in synchronizing our lifestyles, our governmental responsibilities and processes, our consumerism and economy; toward a more just, sustainable world. If not; you need to vote for someone else who will support continuing the status quo.

We must build an ethical and reciprocal relationship within our community; its land, its use of resources. Our children's future depends on it. Our legacy, the value and impact of our short lives on this planet, demands it. That is our quest in this campaign, join us!
